Технология предоставления абоненту прозрачного доступа к телекоммуникационным услугам, профиль которых адаптирован под его конкретные требования и не зависит от среды обслуживания, технологий радиодоступа и сетевых стандартов. Одно из важных свойств VHE - переносимость услуг через границы мобильных и стационарных сетей, в том числе с одного типа терминала на другой, без потери качества связи. Реализация этой процедуры в реальном времени позволяет создать эффект «присутствия» для абонента, находящегося на большом удалении от места событий, фактически создавая эффект ощущения унифицированной (домашней) среды.
